What To Expect During Repairs And Renovations

For many of our clients, we are their first experience with large property renovations and home insurance claims. We want you to feel free to ask questions, knowing that we always offer clear, complete answers. We know that any major repair, from replacing a roof to adding new siding, can be a daunting process. You may not know what to expect from your project in regard to time, money or the process. Below is a general overview of what you can expect.

Site Visits And Estimates

Every repair and renovation begins with a site visit. When we arrive at your property, we will review the state of your home or business and discuss with you the available options. If you already have a budget in mind, we can help you prioritize. If you are in the middle of an insurance claim, we will create a comprehensive report for your use.

Notify Insurance Company

After meeting with us for your initial estimate, clients who are filing for an insurance claim should call the insurance company claim center to get the process started. We can meet with you to contact the insurance company together to provide you with knowledge you’ll need to complete the insurance claim. Most insurers have a 24-hour claim center to handle this process.

Adjuster Meeting

The insurance company will schedule a time to inspect your property. They will use their inspection along with our initial inspection to determine what repairs are covered by your policy. We can help meet with your insurance adjuster and answer any questions they have about our evaluation and about the damage to your property. Be sure to let your New Life Contracting rep know the date and time of the meeting.

Mortgage Company Process

Most insurance checks will have your mortgage company listed on them. Because of this, there may be additional steps to take to withdraw your insurance funds and begin work. You will need to notify the Loss Draft department of your mortgage provider and get the required forms. New Life Contracting can help fill out the forms that require information from the contractor.

Define Scope & Build Job

You, as the homeowner, should review the insurance loss statement and confirm the scope of work. Your confirmation will be what lets us begin our work. Your New Life Contracting rep will submit your confirmation to the office and work will be scheduled. You will receive notification of the build date and key details.

Progress Invoice

Shortly after your project is underway, New Life Contracting sends a progress invoice. This is for a portion of the job cost. A final invoice will be sent later.

Post Build Walk Through

New Life Contracting will do a post build walk-through with you. This is your opportunity to tour the repairs, ask questions and review our work If there are any issues, they will be addressed. If there are other trades to complete, they will be ordered and scheduled.

Supplement Process

New Life Contracting will send updated information to your insurance company including building code items and the permit costs. Insurance will review and update their loss statement and send the insured a revised copy. Be sure to send a copy of the revised loss statement to your New Life Contracting rep.

Final Invoice

Once work is completed, New Life Contracting will send you a final invoice. A copy of the final invoice is also sent to the insurance company as a courtesy.
